Nurse Justin Wisniewski Bestowed Prestigious DAISY Award

Congratulations to Justin Wisniewski for being awarded the DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses!
A grateful family member of one of Justin’s patients nominated him, citing the excellent care he provided when the patient had suffered from a stroke. The patient had vision problems, memory issues and was very confused during her recovery in the hospital. When the family was unable to visit, Justin often communicated to them about how their loved one was doing.
“Justin was an amazing advocate and really helped make this difficult, scary situation more bearable and easier to navigate,” the nominator said.
Coquille Valley Hospital Clinical Director of Nursing, Sacha Pogue, presented Justin with the prestigious award on May 8. Justin, one of Coquille Valley Hospital’s incredible medical surgery registered nurses, was chosen as overall winner from among his nominated peers.
The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes in 1999 after he died at 33 years old from complications of an auto-immune disease. Patrick’s family wanted to do something to thank all the nurses who helped him during his illness, and so they created the DAISY Award to recognize the compassion of nurses everywhere. More than 5,000 healthcare facilities throughout the world have honored their nurses through the program, including Coquille Valley Hospital.
As Coquille Valley Hospital’s DAISY Award winner, Justin will have his name submitted for a chance at a National DAISY Award, which comes with numerous prizes, clothing discounts and other fantastic honors for the winner.
Terri Brandt-Correia, Chief Nursing Officer at Coquille Valley Hospital, thanked Justin for his “dedication, caring nature and positive impact on our hospital and community.”
