Meet Dr. Holland

Well-rounded and down-to-earth, Dr. Megan Holland was born in Washington. She grew up in rural Arkansas and finished her last couple years of high school in Seattle, where she lived on her own, working to support herself while finishing school.

After high school, she worked in Seattle’s seafood industry. She continued to work full-time while attending night classes, graduating from the University of Washington. Following college, she moved to New York with her two young sons to attend the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, where she earned her medical degree. But her heart belonged in the Pacific Northwest. She returned to complete her residency at Central Washington Family Medicine, where she met her husband.

She has practiced family medicine in Washington and Oregon since 2005, most recently in Bandon. While in Bandon, she served as president of the medical staff at Southern Coos Hospital and Health Center and continues to serve as Oregon Health & Science University’s Regional Associate Dean for Campus for Rural Health South Coast, training and mentoring students pursuing professions in healthcare.

As a primary care provider, she cares for all ages and takes into account both a person’s medical issues and what’s going on in a person’s life. “I enjoy being able to take care for a whole family—kids, parents, grandparents and everyone in between,” she says. “It’s a privilege to be able to practice at a place where you have the time to get to know people and customize their care.”

In addition to diagnosing general medical issues for all ages, her medical interests include chronic disease management, women’s care, superficial skin lesion treatment and biopsies and joint injections.

“I enjoy being able to take care of the whole family—kids, parents, grandparents and everyone in between,” she says. “It’s a privilege to be able to practice at a place where you have the time to get to know people and customize their care.”

Dr. Holland and her husband have four grown children between them, as well as two dogs and a cat. She enjoys spending time outdoors and loves to camp and hike along local creeks and rivers. She also loves to travel and read sci-fi and fantasy novels.
