Meet Dr. Ferrer

Having grown up and attended high school in Coquille, Dr. German Ferrer returns to the area feeling lucky to be part of such a wonderful community.

“For me being able to come back here and practice is great!”

As a family medicine doctor, German Ferrer, enjoys the opportunity to meet patients where they are and adapt their care needs. This results in a fairly broad scope of practice, he says.

“I get to wear multiple hats, and that is one of my favorite things about rural family medicine.”

Dr. Ferrer emphasizes partnership and collaboration with his patients.

“As a primary care provider, I believe it is my obligation to be a partner for my patients to help them navigate the healthcare system and collaborate towards the goal of better health. I want them to walk away from the visit feeling as though they’ve been heard.”

In college, Dr. Ferrer first studied general biology before he began to home in on studying medicine. Once he volunteered on a medical mission to Belize, his path was set.

“It really all just culminated and it made me realize that being a doctor was exactly what I wanted to do.”

His areas of special interest are colonoscopy, ultrasound guided injections and hospital medicine.

Outside of his family care practice, Dr. Ferrer enjoys time with his family, which includes his wife Rebecca and two sons, Lucas and Nicolas. They enjoy the outdoors and often can be found mountain biking, fishing, camping and spending time on the beach.
