Megan Holland was born in Washington, grew up in rural Arkansas and finished her last couple years of high school in Seattle, where she lived on her own, working to support herself while finishing school.

After high school, she worked in Seattle's seafood industry. She continued to work full-time while attending night classes at Edmonds Community College in Washington, graduating from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Bachelor of Science in zoology.

After college, she moved to New York with her two young sons to attend the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, where she earned her medical degree. But her heart belonged in the Pacific Northwest, so she returned to complete her residency at Central Washington Family Medicine, where she met her husband, Craig.

She has practiced family medicine in Washington and Oregon, most recently in Bandon, since 2005. While in Bandon, she served as president of the medical staff at Southern Coos Hospital and Health Center and continues to serve as Oregon Health & Science University's Regional Associate Dean for Campus for Rural Health South Coast, training and mentoring students pursuing professions in health care.

Dr. Holland and her husband have four grown children between them, two dogs and a cat. She enjoys spending time outdoors and loves to camp and hike local creeks and rivers. She also loves to travel and read sci-fi and fantasy novels.

"I believe it takes time and engagement to learn patients' stories and to understand the variety of factors impacting the health of the individual, family and community. I am grateful to be able to continue to provide care for patients and families on the South Coast, now at the Coquille Valley Hospital Clinic," she says.
